L’incisione riproduce un dipinto di Baldassarre Peruzzi raffigurante Apollo che danza con le Muse (1510-1520 ca.), accompagnate inferiormente da un cartiglio con i nomi scritti in caratteri greci. L’iscrizione riporta in modo erroneo il nome di “Raffaello” con il quale Peruzzi effettivamente collaborò. Per quanto concerne l’incisore si ritiene che esso possa esser identificato con Blanchard Auguste Jean Baptiste Marie anche se non può essere escluso che si tratti, invece, dell’incisore Blanchard Auguste Thomas Marie 1819/ 1898.
